The project involved the complete refurbishment of a 3 storey commercial building in the Corso Heritage Conservation area. Known as ‘the Tea Rooms”, this building was once visited by author DH Lawrence. BJA retained the heritage facade of this building and were successful in negotiating approval for a new trafficable balcony on level 1, despite council planner’s initial adverse recommendation. The clean balcony detailing and glazed balustrade provides a foil to meticulously restored façade.
