The catalyst for transforming Rialto Lane from garbage and service lane to revitalised pedestrian friendly laneway has been BJAs development of new 3 storey commercial offices with entry lobbies addressing the lane.
Our design strategy was to limit vehicles, slow traffic movement and to articulate pavement patterns for pedestrian safety + aesthetics. BJA lobbied Council to replace loading docks with people active frontages and improve the quality of building uses and facades. A café courtyard has since been added and still to come are green walls and more colourful facades.
