The Corso is the main thoroughfare from the Harbour to the ocean. 80 the Corso has its main entry off the Corso and a service entry from the rear – Rialto Lane. Having been responsible for all the new upgrades along Rialto Lane, BJA were asked to redesign No. 80 by providing a new Rialto to access commercial tenancies above. In contrast to the consistent and controlled heritage facades along the Corso, the perforated screen façade celebrates its secretive laneway location.

The design will allow the Corso business to remain operational while building works take place. The approval for this site includes a mezzanine floor and although the height exceeds the planning control, it was approved due to its context and lower height on the laneway façade. Construction due 2019.
