Originally conceived and planned as a single stream Primary & Secondary school, Shearwater is now embarking on a Double Stream expansion program.
The library, eurhythmy, craft and administration buildings surround a large remnant fig tree and form the centre of the school. Peeling away from this are two linear clusters of primary classrooms with verandahs providing wet weather links and outdoor learning areas. Rhythm and proportion emerge as formative elements.
The interior of the eurhythmy room is embraced by floating planes of timber, whilst its panel-fold doors allow the normally introverted space to open up to an outdoor audience.
