MANLY 2014
This laneway behind the Corso in Manly has undergone a transformation from a garbage and delivery service lane to a paved shared pedestrian laneway. The catalyst has been BJAs development of new 3 storey commercial offices with entry lobby’s along Rialto lane.
BJA’s strategy is to limit vehicles, slow traffic movement and loading times and to articulate pavement patterns for pedestrian safety. We lobbied to replace loading docks with people active frontages and improve the quality of building uses and facades. Still to come are green walls and a café courtyard!
