The building was originally the “heritage” toilet block for the tram/bus depot that pre-existed the Opera House. A competitive tender was held and our client was awarded the lease, due in part to BJA’s sensitive treatment of the building – in contrast to the fast food entrants! The first scheme was conceived as an Oyster Bar with seating around the central servery whilst the latest refit utilises most of the building interior as kitchen with the main focus being the outdoor seating with fine dining in a spectacular setting.
The fabric of the building including the original door and window openings have been retained within strict heritage guidelines and Rocks Authority requirements. Every inch of space is considered and utilised including the attic.
