Narara Eco Village Cluster Housing

The Narara Ecovillage Co-operative purchased the Gosford Horticultural site in 2013. The Stage one DA approved in 2014 comprises 33 dwelling lots and two cluster housing sites. BJA were commissioned to design ten houses on one of the cluster lots. 5 housing types were developed responding to specific terrain and provide a diversity of housing prices and accommodation from 1.5 to 3.5 bedrooms. Each house receives mid-winter sunlight into gardens and living spaces and ESD ensures 6.1 to 7.6 BASIX rating.

The need for privacy and community is carefully balanced in the detailed planning and the whole design fulfils NEV’s mission statement: “We will research, design and build a stylish, inter-generational, friendly demonstration ecovillage….. blending the principles of eco and social sustainability, good health, business, caring and other options that may evolve for our well being.” The project remains on paper due to a change of direction within the co-op.
