MOUNT BARKER WALDORF SCHOOL
1985 – CURRENT
BJA completed the original Masterplan in 1985 which set the pattern for a village school where individual buildings and precincts developed off paths and access roads. A school oval was cut into the centre of tvhe site as a unifying element. We developed a language of rammed earth walls on concrete slabs which provided cooling thermal mass for the adelaide climate. BJA designed the Arts and crafts space, primary nad highschool classrooms, the Administration Building in its central location, and the economical timber framed Eurythymy room which was beautifully lasure painted by Guy Walker..
All the specialist buildings have a bilateral symmetry with organic and conversational gestures, whilst the twin classrooms follow an elongated pattern with generous verandahs adjoiniung common courtyards.
