The design of this home was inspired by the clients interest in gliders, except the central “cockpit” with commanding views, houses the kitchen and dining room! Curved and layered roofs peel peel off to either side and the northern aspect draws winter sun whilst overlooking the paddocks.
The dark basalt stones collected from the site provide an excellent heat sink for the Trombé walls used to warm the living rooms. Solar panels and slow combustion fuel stoves are used for space and water heating.
Stringybark framing and weatherboards were milled from trees on the site and non-toxic Bio and Livos paints used internally.
