NARARA ECO VILLAGE CLUSTER HOUSING
DA approval 2014

The Narara Ecovillage Co-operative purchased the Gosford Horticultural site in 2013. The Stage one DA comprises 33 dwelling lots and two cluster housing sites. BJA were commissioned to design ten houses on one of the cluster lots.

We developed 5 housing types to suit the terrain and provide a diversity of housing costs and accommodation from 1.5 to 3.5 bedrooms. Each site receives requisite mid winter sunlight to gardens as well as the living spaces. They achieve BASIX ratings between 6.1 and 7.6 through our environmentally sustainable design approach. The need for privacy and community is carefully considered in the layout.

The design fullfills NEV’s mission statement which states:

“We will research, design and build a stylish, inter-generational, friendly demonstration ecovillage….. blending the principles of eco and social sustainability, good health, business, caring and other options that may evolve for our well being.”
